The History of the Keathleys

Keathley (KEETH-lee) is a very old British surname, which can be traced to the town of Keighley in West Yorkshire. Some of the famous people who have lived there include Anne, Charlotte, and Emily Bronte, as well as Peter Mayhew, the actor who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies.
Sir Henry de Kygheley, a very early ancestor of the Keathleys, was a member of Parliament in 1300 A.D. The Keathleys have resided in the U.S. since at least the 18th century, and can be found in California, North Carolina, and all points between.
Dr. Sandy Keathley of White County, Tennessee runs an excellent website documenting the family history and geneology.
